The villages of La Plagne
Plagne Centre
Plagne Centre was the resort’s first village, built on a shelf enclosed by a cirque, with a view of Mont Blanc. From Aime-La Plagne station it’s 19.1 km, about 27 min without snow, from €117.58 by day. I drop you off near the Tourist Office or the Le Boulevard car park.
Belle Plagne
Belle Plagne is 20.2 km from the station, about 29 min without snow, and the journey starts at €121.76 by day. You get there via the Route de Belle Plagne; I can drop you at the Tourist Office or the upper car park (Parking du Haut).
Aime 2000
Plagne Aime 2000 was the second village to be built, 21 km from the station, about 31 min without snow, for €124.80 by day. I stop near the Tourist Office, on Rue du Mont Blanc.
Plagne Montalbert
Montalbert, a former farming hamlet above Longefoy, is the village closest to the station: 10.7 km, about 16 min without snow, from €85.66 by day. Drop-off is at the Maison de Montalbert or on Place de la Mairie.
Montchavin
Montchavin, at 1,250 m, is reached by the D225 from Landry: 14.8 km, about 18 min without snow, from €101.24 by day. I park on Place Arpael or near the Tourist Office.
Les Coches
Les Coches, between 1,400 and 1,450 m, lies along the Route des Bauches and the Route de Montchavin. It’s 17.3 km from the station, about 22 min without snow, and €110.74 by day. In winter, there is also a coach link from Landry; with a private driver, I take you straight there with your suitcases.
Getting to La Plagne: access and road
For Plagne Centre, Belle Plagne and Aime 2000, you leave the N90 at Aime and climb the D221, a road with 21 named bends that then splits towards the ski area’s two basins. Montalbert lies above the hamlet of Longefoy; Montchavin and Les Coches are reached by the D225 from Landry. The journey times given are without snow; allow longer when it snows or on Saturdays.
